Charlotte Mohrs

  • Wide spectrum of pieces from the Renaissance period to the Modern era
  • Intermediate level

The Easy Concert Pieces series offers a wide spectrum of pieces from the Renaissance period through to the Modern era. The repertoire is suited for all kinds of concerts and auditions. It contains original works for double bass solo as well as orchestral excerpts and arrangements of famous classical masterpieces. At this intermediate level of study, there is an increasing focus on supplementing a double bass method performance repertoire.

Volume 3 (intermediate) increases the repertoire up to the 6th position and requires a good control of the lower positions. It makes higher demands on expressive playing and interpretations, velocity and rhythm, as well as articulation and phrasing.

In the Midst of Nature

for piano

Leokadiya Kashperova

  • New Kashperova Edition for piano
  • Great repertoire resource
  • Intermediate to Advanced level

Completed in 1910, Leokadiya Kashperova’s In the Midst of Nature is a six movement piano suite that uses evocations of nature to express the composer’s nostalgia for her childhood in the peaceful and remote Russian countryside.

This piano suite also represents an artfully graded progression: the early movements are within the range of the talented player whilst the latter movements require the technique and interpretative maturity of a conservatoire student, the whole work being admirably suited to the professional recital.

Having been neglected for a century, Kashperova’s work has recently been rediscovered by Boosey & Hawkes who are proud to present the new Kashperova Edition of her piano suite. In the Midst of Nature is the third of ten works available in the collection.

Cello Sonata in E minor

Op 1 No 2

for cello & piano

Leokadiya Kashperova

  • New Kashperova Edition for cello and piano
  • Great repertoire resource
  • Intermediate to Advanced level

Leokadiya Kashperova (1872–1940) wrote Cello Sonata in E minor, op.1/2 alongside her first sonata soon after graduating from St. Petersburg Conservatoire.

More famously known as Stravinsky’s piano teacher, Kashperova was a virtuoso pianist and composer, writing many works after her first sonata. Despite being associated with some of the greatest musicians of her day, Kashperova’s music has been neglected for a century. Her work has recently been rediscovered by Boosey & Hawkes who are proud to present the new Kashperova Edition of her cello sonatas.

Both works are in four movements and portray the composer’s excellent piano writing and Russian Romantic style. Cello Sonata in E minor, op.1/2 is the second of ten works available in the collection.
